Dr. Rayyan Alamoudi

Dr. Rayyan Alamoudi is a bioinformatician and microbial genomics researcher whose work focuses on designing regulatory-grade, automated bioinformatics pipelines for foodborne-pathogen detection and outbreak investigation. As Chief Expert Laboratory Researcher at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), he is developing the bioinformatics workflows behind the authority's detection and investigation of foodborne pathogens. He earned his PhD at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where he applied WGS metagenomics and metatranscriptomics to the microbiomes of extreme environments. Alamoudi collaborates with research and public-health institutions on translating sequencing data into food-safety applications.
